1890 (Eighteen Ninety) Event Space Guide

Located just outside Platte City, the 1890 Event Space is one of the prettiest historical wedding venues in the Kansas City area.

Layout

The venue has 3 main buildings on site: The main house, reception hall, and secondary getting-ready building. The outdoor ceremony space is directly behind the house.

The House

Every area inside and out of the house is photogenic and wonderfully decorated.

The bedrooms upstairs and landing area are gorgeous!

The stairway leads down to a warm sitting room. As with every room in the house, the wood and ample natural light makes photography easy!

The hearth room downstairs is a perfect welcome space, just inside the door to the ceremony area.

As all good house porches should, the porch wraps around and makes for many great picture areas.

Ceremony Space

Walking out of the hearth room, you go directly down the ceremony space aisle.

Reception Hall

The reception hall is a sidewalk away from the main house with a wonderful patio area in between. The hall can double as a backup ceremony space in case of inclement weather.

Second Getting Ready Barn

It's common to separate the bridesmaids and bride from the groomsmen and groom while they get ready before the ceremony. 1890 has a second barn/house with a wonderful apartment space to hangout and get dressed. There is a pool table, tv, and small kitchen.

Overall, 1890 is one of the best maintained, best decorated, and easiest to photograph wedding venues I've taken pictures at. If you're looking for a classic and timeless setting for your wedding, it is fantastic option!
